No lower fines for California stops and rolling rights

Wednesday, Aug 24th, 2016

No lower fines for California stops and rolling rights. - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.

Lawmakers’ effort to reduce the fine for “rolling stops” where drivers don't fully stop at a red light before turning right, has failed.

The bill that would have reduced the base fine for not fully stopping before turning right on red to $35 from $100, has been stopped in its tracks.

The bill had broad support from the California Assn. of Highway Patrolmen but likely failed due to an analysis that predicted if it were to pass there could be a significant loss of state and local revenue. - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.

Why don't teens like to wear a seatbelt?

Wednesday, Aug 17th, 2016

Why don’t teens like to wear a seatbelt? - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.

In California, teens can’t ride passenger unless properly restrained by a safety belt. Fines for violating seatbelt laws vary depending on certain factors, but on average can cost $100 - $200.

Despite there being laws like this, teens have the lowest rate of seatbelt use as compared with other age groups. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports only 54 percent of high school students admitted to always wearing a seatbelt when riding with someone else.

Safety advocates encourage parents to warn teens of the dangers of being in a car without a seatbelt. -  this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.

Is motorcycle lane splitting legal and is it safe?

Wednesday, Aug 10th, 2016

Is motorcycle lane splitting legal and is it safe? - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.

Lane splitting is the practice of a motorcycle driving between two rows of stopped or moving cars in the same lane. No law in CA specifically authorizes lane splitting and none prohibits it.

According to research done by UC Berkeley in 2015, it can be done safely if the motorcycle is driven at a speed of no more than 50 mph and not more than 15 mph faster than surrounding traffic.

Although there are currently no official safety guidelines in place, a new bill seeks to authorize the California Highway Patrol to develop these. - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Fighting Traffic Tickets.
