It’s not unheard of for tickets issued via mail to be sent in error. Like to the wrong person: take the Sacramento woman who was accidently mailed 18 tickets, even though she doesn’t drive.

If you get a ticket in the mail, it’s probably a red light camera ticket (maybe even a parking ticket):

  • The name and description of the registered owner should be printed on the ticket – make sure this is you
  • The plate number and description of the vehicle should be printed on the ticket – make sure it’s yours

Mailed a violation in error? Make a phone call to the police department or office of the agency issuing the ticket, to clear up the misunderstanding.
