The National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS) provides nationwide probability-based observed data on driver electronic device use in the United States. The NOPUS is conducted annually by the National Center for Statistics and Analysis of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2011 NOPUS found more female drivers than male drivers drove while using a cell phone without a hands free device.

Most local police departments and the CHP have been participating in a statewide crackdown during the national distracted driving awareness month of April. Last year approximately 57,000 tickets were issued. If you get a cell phone ticket it is a reportable offense.  - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Beating Traffic Tickets
