Avoid Unlawful Placement of Toll Tags Inside Your Vehicle - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Beating Traffic Tickets.
If you use FasTrak lanes where should you place your toll tag it to avoid getting a ticket for having it unlawfully positioned?
FasTrak users are responsible for mounting toll tags properly. FasTrak electronically collects tolls using a radio frequency system which “activates” your toll tag about 300 feet before the deduction is taken. Therefore, you cannot wait until the last minute to take the toll tag out of your glove compartment or wave it as you approach the toll plaza, since such actions interfere with the activation of the toll tag and a police officer may view this as attempt at toll evasion. If your toll tag cannot be read, and you do not have your vehicle's license plate on file with FasTrak, a violation notice can also be sent to you.
FasTrak toll tags should be mounted inside the vehicle at least 2" from top edge of windshield, horizontally, in the center behind mirror to ensure successful toll payment. Section 26708 of the Vehicle Code, permits a toll tag/transponder to be affixed to the center uppermost portion of the interior of a windshield, or on the bottom right or left corner of the windshield. - this blog was written by TicketKick.com, Your Go-To Resource for Beating Traffic Tickets
