Last year, the City of Santa Clarita began looking at whether making left-turn yellow lights longer at some intersections would decrease red light running. And it did. Dramatically.
As of this month the City has ceased red light camera ticketing all-together.
Now for the bad news. If you’ve got an upcoming court date for a City of Santa Clarita ticket issued prior to April 2015, it doesn’t go away just because the cameras are no longer active.
But don’t think - They caught me on camera, I’m done for!
There’s a lengthy list of reasons why red light tickets can get dismissed: an unclear photo of the driver; a misidentified driver; a noncompliant light; the driver had a legitimate safety reason for not stopping; and the list goes on…
